Heath Marcus Day, 41, of Chula died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Randall Gay and Rev. L. A. Pate will officiate with burial to follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula. Jason Day, Lee Burgess, Eric Fletcher, Daren Purvis, Rusty Johnson and Cody Johnson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Day was born on September 24, 1972 in Tift County and was the son of Jane Paulk Day of Chula and the late Don W. Day. He graduated with honors from Tiftarea Academy in 1990 and attended Mercer University and the University of Georgia. He was employed helping companies set up computer systems. He spent most of his adult life in Seattle, Washington and moved back to Chula in 2002. He loved his cat, Snowflake and enjoyed his mother’s and aunt’s good cooking. He was a loving, warm-hearted and generous person and loved his grandparents, Joe and Juanita Day.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Day is survived by his aunts and uncles, Joe and J. W. Underwood of Chula, Martha and Eddie Sklany of Tifton, Gloria and Larry Fletcher of Donalsonville and Charles Lee Day of Marietta; and several cousins.
