Wynona Tramel Gossett, age 87, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Graceland Care Center in Oxford, MS. She was born August 22, 1926 in Pontotoc County, MS to the late Richard and Ora Tutor Tramel. Wynona spent her life serving the needs of others. She joined Oxford Lafayette Medical Center in August of 1963 as a surgical technician for fourteen years and served an additional ten years as an obstetrical technician in the labor, delivery and nursery section. Wynona was a devoted mother and beloved grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her church family. Wynona was a member of Delay Baptist Church in Lafayette County, MS.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Delay Baptist Church in Lafayette County, MS with Bro. Sammy Gossett officiating. Burial will be in the Delay Church Cemetery with Jeff Michelletti, Greg DePriest, Andy Gossett, Hunter Gossett, Josh Gossett, Luke Gossett, Marty Daniels, Quinton Yarbrough and Mike Foshee serving as pallbearers. Chris Gossett will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Wynona is survived by her daughter, Rena Carol Kornegay (Kevin) of Cherokee Village, AR; three sons, Bennie (Lynette) Gossett of Olive Branch, MS, Barry (Donna) Gossett of Oxford, MS and Eddie (Tabrina) Gossett of Henderson, TX; one sister, Evelyn Denton of Paris, MS; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Susie Miller Gossett McCain and a special care giver, Carolyn Faust.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bennie Nolan Gossett.
