Mary R. (Walsh) Jardin, 86, of New Bedford died Sunday December 29, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late Adolph "Rudy" Jardin.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Captain Joseph Sarto and Angela (McGrath) Walsh, she lived in New Bedford since 1930.
Mary was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Mary's Parish. She was a past member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and the Martha and Mary Society. She was also the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her service to her parish.
She is survived by her children, Leslie A. Moore and her husband Arthur of Seekonk, and Randall Jardin of New Bedford; her siblings, Florence Richardson of Falmouth, Frances "Nancy" Bennett and Patricia Crabbe, both of Fairhaven, Thomas P. Walsh, Helen Monize, and Ronald J. Walsh, all of New Bedford; four grandchildren. Lindsay and Regan Moore and Alexander and Casey Jardin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Josephine Wall, Donald J. Walsh, and Joseph R. Walsh.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford on Monday January 6, 2014 at 9:30 AM. Private burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted.
