Bridgewater – Robert J. “Butch” Dorr, 72 died unexpectedly Saturday December 28. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Diane (Drosos) Dorr.
Born in Portland, Maine and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Warren and Evelyn (Jewers) Dorr.
For over 25 years Butch had worked as a supervisor and driver for the C. Walsh Moving Company of Boston, and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, Local 25.
Prior to his move to Bridgewater 14 years ago, he had been a longtime resident of Whitman where he and his wife Diane raised their 3 daughters.
He loved to travel, but his greatest joy came from the time spent with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by his loving daughters Lisa Dorr, Kerry Ledger and her husband Mark and Tammy Derochea and her husband Stanley all of Whitman, his brother Kenneth Dorr of FL, and his sisters Maxine Kilgore of Plympton, Florence Warren of NJ, Marjorie Lawler of Boston, Ruby Aoude of Quincy and Madeline Reisold of Maine. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored Timothy, Mark, Joseph and Riley as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Saturday January 4 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Thursday January 2 from 4-8 PM.
