Obituary

Earl C. Healey, age 94, of Carver, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013.

Earl was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Signal Corp and landed in France during the Normandy invasion. After the war, he and his wife, Shirley settled in Quincy where he helped raise his family and worked for many years at Sears Roebuck and Company in Quincy Square. He also was a professional musician, playing the stand-up bass with his own groups, The Earl C. Healey Orchestra and the Eric Ross Quintet. He and his groups played at the Officers Club in the Fargo Building in South Boston for more than 20 years. Upon retirement, he played with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. After moving to Carver in 1984, he was elected and served as an Assessor for the Town of Carver. He was a member of the Plymouth Masonic Lodge and had earned an award for 50 years of service. Earl was an avid animal lover and supported many different animal charities over the years. He will be lovingly remembered and fondly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Earl was the beloved husband for 63 years of the late Shirley E. (Wagner) Healey; loving father of Scott C. Healey & his wife Helen of Pembroke, MA and Bruce J. Healey & his wife Patricia of Norfolk, MA; cherished grandfather of James Healey & his wife Tina, Keith Healey & his wife Karyn, Allison Joubert & her husband Jeffrey, Ann Pirone & her husband Ciro, Kevin Healey, Laura Goodman & her husband James, Bryan Healey and his twin sister Meredith Healey; beloved great-grandfather of Ava, Ryan, Alanna, Katelyn, Tess, Natalie, Marcello and Nora; loving brother of Lois Stetson.

A visitation period will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, (Route 58), Carver, on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 10:00-11:30 AM, with a funeral service at 11:30 AM.

Interment will follow at the Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl's name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
