LAURA MARY (CORMIER) KESSLER
Of Walpole, formerly of Canton, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in her residence after a brief illness. She was 93.
The daughter of the late Simeon C. and Alice (Goguen) Cormier, she was born, raised and educated in Norwood graduating from Saint Catherine’s School.
A Canton resident for almost 60 years, she moved to Walpole 13 years ago.
Mrs. Kessler’s life centered around her family and home, where she had been a wonderful and providing mother and wife. She and her late husband were members of the Foxboro Country Club and together enjoyed attending events and socializing at the Club. An avid golfer she was still playing into her 80’s. She also enjoyed traveling and cruising having visited many international locations and ports of call.
Mrs. Kessler was predeceased in 2000 by her husband, Joseph F. Kessler, Jr. She was the mother of the late Joseph F. Kessler III and Karen Kessler Miller, the grandmother of the late Christine Kessler and sister of the late Regina Kavolius, Bertha Canniff and Edna Connolly and Alphonse, Albert, Alfred “Cal” Edmund, Hector, Henry, Leo and Simeon “Cy” Cormier.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Cowan and her husband, Brian of Brewster, Rainy Knauber and her husband, Rob and Janet Dawson and her husband, Peter both of Canton and Diane Nelson and her husband, Rudy of Duxbury and her sisters, Helen M. Close of Attleboro and Alice Zinkowski of Boothbay Harbor, ME. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family will attend a private Memorial Services in Celebration of Laura’s Life on Saturday, January 4 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton with inurnment to follow.
