Obituary

Michael Joseph Devitt, age 58, formerly of Beverly, Massachusetts, died at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Roxbury on Friday, December 27, 2013 following a long illness.
Born in Salem, the son of the late William and June Devitt, he was raised and educated in Beverly. Mr. Devitt graduated from Beverly High School in the Class of 1973. He then served in the United States Army where he specialized in surgical supplies as an Operation Room Technician. He later held a similar position at the Salem Hospital. Mike was an avid outdoor sportsman, who particularly enjoyed fishing and bicycling and was very fond of the ocean and the North Shore.

He is survived by his brother, William J. Devitt, his wife Jean and their daughter Melea of Peabody, MA as well his brother, Steven B. Devitt of North Andover.

ARRANGEMENTS: A graveside funeral with Military Honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue in Bourne, MA on Thursday, Jan. 2. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Roxbury V.A. Medical Center, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132-4927.
