Donald F. Grimes, 76, of Medway, died December 27 in the Medway Country Manor. He was the husband of Catherine (Courtney) Grimes.
Born in Boston, April 13, 1937, the son of the late George F. and Margaret (Norris) Grimes, Mr. Grimes was raised in Brookline and had lived in Medway since 1961.
Mr. Grimes was a graduate of St. Mary’s of Brookline High School and had attended Wentworth Institute and Boston University.
Mr. Grimes had been a systems analyst for the Raytheon Corporation for 35 years before retiring.
Don had been the founder of the Medway Amateur Basketball Association. He had also coached youth basketball in Medway for many years.He was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks,#2136.
Don enjoyed being retired.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Donald P. Grimes M.P.D. and his wife Bonny of Franklin, Paul C. Grimes of Franklin, Kimberly A. Petrini of Uxbridge and Scott C. Grimes and his wife Shauna of Medway.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leah, Loren, Matthew, Krystal, Kristopher, Kayla, Edward John “EJ”, Bryan and Madison.
He is also survived by his great-granddaughter Riley J.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday December 31 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m.
