Obituary

Janice Dellinger Taylor

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, December 26, 2013, Mrs. Janice (Jan) Dellinger Taylor, 73, loving wife of 49 and ½ years to Arthur H. Taylor, Jr. (Art).

She is preceded in death by her parents William Guy Dellinger and Eloise Beam Dellinger. She is also survived by her loving children Chris (Laure), Tim (Alisa) and 4 grandchildren: Lyndsay, Caitlen, Cole and Mackenzie. She is also survived by her only brother Ronald Dellinger (Frances) and nephew Cliff (Joanie) and niece Joy (Barry).

She developed Polio in the summer of 1944 after moving to Hendersonville NC. It was a debilitating disease with no known cure. Jan's lasting blessing was paralysis in her left leg. While rehabilitating, she received a visit from a famous cowboy of the time: Johnny Mac Brown. He sang "Don't Fence Me In" and from that day on, the song epitomized her desire to be all she could be.

A polio survivor, Jan went on to graduate from Hendersonville High School in 1957. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 1961 as a teacher. Jan married Art in 1964 in Hendersonville, NC. She sang in the Gordon Bells choir and served in the local PTA at various stops along the way. She moved 25 times until retiring in Augusta in 1980.

She was a respected teacher at Kerr Business College and also served several area doctors with Medical Transcription. She was inducted into the Hendersonville High School Hall of Fame in 2002. She never let her disability stand in her way. She was a devoted wife and mother and proudly served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Martinez United Methodist Church. Even on her most difficult days, she would reach out to others with a phone call or a card letting you know she was thinking of you. Rest in Peace Gan Gan!
