Obituary

Vincent P. “Veep” Quill, Jr. age 62 of Brockton died Christmas Day in Massachusetts General Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Vincent P. and Phillipa (Reynolds) Quill and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He was a 1970 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and continued his education at Massasoit Community College and Stonehill College.

Vinnie worked for over 30 years with Verizon. He was very involved in the IBEW Local 2322 where he had been chief steward for many years. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing cribbage and sitting around the campfire. He was particularly proud of his Irish heritage and the accomplishments of his children; he never missed a hockey game or a dance recital.

Vinnie is survived by his former wife and devoted friend, Bernardine “Bunnie” (DeGirolamo) Quill, his two children Vincent P. Quill, III and his wife Julie of Raynham and Elizabeth M. Cerullo and her husband Steven of Bridgewater; and his grandchildren Victoria, Vincent IV, Jennah and Bobby Quill and Andrew, Jonathan and Kathryn Cerullo. He also leaves his sisters Denise St. Pierre, wife of the late Alfred St. Pierre, of Dennis, MA and Sheila Gillen and her husband James of Dennis, MA and his childhood neighbor and lifetime friend, James Neagle of Brockton. He will be fondly remembered by his five nieces and nephews and also those who called him Uncle Veep.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-6 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8:00 am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9:00 am. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
