Plaistow NH – On Thursday, December 19, 2013, Richard P. Fluet, 59, passed away peacefully after a brief illness with family and friends by his side.
Born in Brookline, MA, Rick attended Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA and graduated from Northern Essex Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for the MA Department of Youth Services before joining Mass Electric Company/National Grid where he was employed for the past 32 years.
Rick is survived by his loving mother, Madeleine (nee Sirois) Fluet of Lawrence, MA; his adoring daughter, Emily Fluet, and Rick’s former wife and long-time friend, Christina Fluet, both of Newburyport, MA; his loving partner, Dena Champy of Methuen, MA; his brother, Mark, of Wuhan City, China; his nephew, Adam Fluet, of Indialantic, FL; a large and loving extended family; and many friends. Rick was pre-deceased by his father, Wilfred Fluet, of Lawrence, MA.
Always with a book in hand, Rick loved the ocean, tropical islands, and music, especially reggae. He was an avid fisherman, competitive poker player, and life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. But above all else, he loved and cherished his family and friends. He drew people to him by the power of his genuine warmth and gregarious personality. He was a devoted and loving father, son, cousin, uncle, partner, and friend to so many who were fortunate to be touched by his exubrance for life and people.
Rick believed strongly in helping those in need, particularly children and youth. As a long-time supporter of Children International, his family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the organization (www.children.org).
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28th at the Wyndham Boston Andover Hotel, 123 Old River Road, Andover, MA 01810. The celebration includes a Remembrance Service from 11:00 am to 11:45 am, followed by a gathering to celebrate Rick.
