Obituary

David A. Herrick, 62 of Auburn, NH died December 22, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH following a nine month battle with Glioblastoma. David was born in Exeter, NH on December 9, 1951 a son of the late Stanley and Claire (Mattinson) Herrick. He had resided in Auburn since 1986, formerly living in Plaistow, NH. David served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had worked for Wang Labs in Lowell, MA for 19 years, and more recently with EMC in Franklin, MA for 10 years as an engineer in the disk drive division, while employed he was a member of the EMC breakfast club. David loved to camp, canoe, hike and white water raft in Maine. He was passionate about computers and computer programming. David will be remembered as a loving husband and father. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Visiting Angel’s in Auburn, Bedford Hills Rehabilitation Department and Brigham and Women’s Neuro-ICU Department.
He is survived by his wife, Martha A. (Pipsair) Herrick of Auburn, his daughter, Jen M. Herrick and his son-in-law Craig D’Amelio of Manchester, NH, his twin brother, Dennis Herrick of Hampstead, NH, his sister, Cindy Simard and her husband Dave of Plaistow, also many nieces, nephews in Louisiana and two nephews in NH. Also, two close cousins, Peter Brenton and Michael Herrick.
Calling hours were held Friday December 27, 2013 from 4 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services with military honors followed at 7:00pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, C/O Dr. Eudocia Quant Lee in Neurology/Oncology Dept., 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor Brookline, MA 02445-7226 or to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.
