Loretta (McGowan) Herman, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 17th. She was 89. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Fitzgerald) McGowan.
The beloved wife of George L. Herman with whom she shared 68 years of marriage, she leaves her five loving children: Linda Solomon and her husband Michael of Princeton, NJ, Lawrence Herman and David Geller of Fairfax, VA, Rachel Herman of Billerica, Lori Michel and her husband Peter of Palo Alto, CA and Nancy Barbuti and her husband Michael of Haymarket VA. She was a loving grandmother to Andrew and his wife Kristen of Cedar Park, TX, Amy Solomon and Alonso Vargas of Eagle Rock, CA, Zachary Herman of Billerica, MA, Michael and Olivia Barbuti of Haymarket, VA; Great-grandmother to Emma, Abby, Will and Rosa. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth, John, James, Robert and Leo McGowan.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday from 4 thru 8 PM and again on Saturday morning December 28th at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
