Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Hilda M. (Wagner) Racine, 84, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 20, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Cuyahoga, Ohio on April 16, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Emile and Cora (Thayer) Wagner. She was raised in Ohio and moved to the Hungry Hill section of Springfield around 1960. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church and currently a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church, both in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert J. Racine who was Called Home on July 9, 2009. She leaves her two loving sons, John J. Racine and Michael A. Racine, both of Springfield; her dear brother-in-law, Roger Racine and his wife, Ruth, of Melbourne, FL; her dear sister-in-law, Rita Byers of Batavia, NY; and several dear nephews and numerous friends both near and far. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother-in-law, Harvey Racine and his wife, Evie, and their daughter, her niece, Diane Racine. Her relatives and friends are invited to a visiting hour on Thursday morning, December 26, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, which will be followed by a Mass Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
