Walter "Wayne" Harris, age 63, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, MS. He was born November 5, 1950 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late Joe Nelson and Hattie Lewis Harris. Wayne was employed by Belk Ford Motor Company in Oxford, MS working as a Porter for the past sixteen years. He enjoyed carpentry work, collecting antique cars and spending time with his family and friends. Wayne was a member of Pine Grove East Church in Water Valley, MS
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Johnny Roland officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS.
Wayne is survived by his fiance, Ruby Mitchell of Courtland, MS; his daughter, Beverly Harris Smith of St. Louis, MO; his son, Deyphun Harris of St.Louis, MO; four sisters, Vera Mae Harris of Water Valley, MS, Suzie Bain of St. Louis, MO, Lillian Wise of Oakland, MS and Brenda Story of Nashville, TN; seven brothers, Willie Ike (Tina) Harris, Levo (Sandra) Harris, Sherman (Eva) Harris, Jimmy (Cynthia) Harris and Harvey Lynn Harris all of Water Valley, MS, Joe (Mary) Harris of Oakland, MS, and Billy (Viola) of Coffeeville, MS; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
