Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Bradley B. Thurston, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 15, 2013 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Jeanette F. (Parsons) Thurston. They had shared over sixty years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on January 3, 1928, he was the son of the late Bradley B., Sr. and Doris (Etheridge) Thurston.
A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, Bradley served aboard the USS Princeton and the USS Stickell before his honorable discharge in November of 1947.
Active in masonic circles, he was a longtime member of the Tyrian-Ashler-Acacia Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Bradley loved fishing, hunting and golfing. He was a great father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Dawn D. Thurston; granddaughter, Amanda D. Thurston; brother, George W. Thurston and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his grandson, Brian R. Thurston.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Rose Baker Senior Center, 6 Manuel F. Lewis Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
