Maria F. (Chaves) Almeida, age 64 of Somerset, passed away Dec. 13, 2013 in St. Anne’s Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Jose de Almeida. Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (Estrela) Chaves. She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Mary F. Amaral (husband David) of Somerset; 2 granddaughters: Kayla & Corissa Amaral; siblings: Eliana Oliveira of Portugal, Lucia Chaves Beredjiklian of Canada, Maria de Lourdes Chaves Cacador of Terceira, John Chaves of RI, Emanuel Chaves & Victor Chaves both of Portugal; many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Octavio Chaves.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on WEDNESDAY here at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
