Obituary

Patricia A. (Szretter) Jacobs of Billerica, formerly of Natick, 62, after a brief struggle with cancer, died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013. She died at the home of her sister in Billerica, MA, surrounded by family and friends.


Born in Framingham, but a life-long resident of Natick, she attended Natick Public Schools and Marian High School in Framingham.

Mrs. Jacobs received her B.S. degree from The University of Massachusetts in 1973 and her Master of Health Education from Bridgewater State University in 1977.

In 1995, Dr. Jacobs received her Ph. D. in Curriculum Instruction and Administration from Boston College.

Dr. Jacobs was an educator and curriculum specialist for the Framingham School System for 24 years. For 12 years until the end of her career, Dr. Jacobs worked as the Elementary Science and Curriculum Specialist for the Weston Public Schools. She retired in 2008.

Throughout her career as an educator, Dr. Jacobs worked as an adjunct Professor of Science and Social Studies Education (Graduate and Undergraduate) at Brandeis University, Boston College and Emmanuel College.

An active member of St. Patrick’s Parish, Dr. Jacobs served for several years in a leadership capacity in St. Patrick’s Parish Counsel.

The daughter of the late John W. Szretter, Jr. and Claire (Kadlik) Szretter, Dr. Jacobs is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Steven R. Jacobs of Billerica and her talented, loving son, Andrew S. Jacobs of New York.

She is also preceded in death by her brothers Ronald and Jack and is survived by her sister Claire Eaton of Amesbury and her best friend and sister Darlene Lynch of Billerica. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Patricia's funeral will be held from John Everett & Sons, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:00AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.

Visiting hours Tuesday, December 17th from 4:00-7:00PM. Interment is private.
