… City Champ baseball coach; 47
LOWELL - Paul S. Lemay, age 47, died peacefully on Friday morning, December 13, surrounded by his family, after a courageous two and one half year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Bernadette (Pacini) Lemay, with whom he had celebrated a twentieth wedding anniversary this past September 17th.
Paul was born in Lowell, October 7, 1966, a son of Brian and Mary (Taylor) Lemay, and had lived his entire life in the city. He graduated from the Great Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School with the Class of 1984.
He worked as a truck drive for the Albert Notini and Sons company in Lowell for the past 30 years.
For the last fourteen years, Paul was the coach of the Athletics Little League team, that earned the “City Championship” trophy this year. Paul could be found at Callery Park most evenings during baseball season, even when his team was not on the field. He also coached for S.T.E.P. , an acronym for Special Team for Exceptional People, a league for disabled and exceptional children and adults.
He was also an avid and devoted fan of Boston’s professional sports teams, especially the Patriots. He was recently honored by the Joe Andruzzi Foundation at Gillette Stadium during a Patriots football game.
Besides his wife and parents, he leaves his best friend and son, Paul Vincent Lemay of Lowell; three brothers, James Lemay, Brian and his wife Donna Lemay, and Christopher and his wife Brianne Lemay all of Lowell; two brothers-in-law, Paul Pacini of Woburn and Michael Pacini of Salem, NH; a sister-in-law, Linda Ciampolillo and her husband Gerald of Stoneham; many aunts uncles, nieces and nephews; and his beloved Boxer dog, Roxy Girl.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 17, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorials made to the Callery Park Little League, 63 West Meadow Road, Lowell, MA 01854, will be appreciated.
