Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: Hector L. Rivera, age 64, a resident of Framingham since 1969, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
Born, raised and educated in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Eduardo and Marcelina (Caraballo) Rivera. He married and raised his family in Framingham.

Hector worked at Fenwal and later, TJX, where he was the mail clerk and assistant to senior management. He was employed as a caseworker at Casa Esperanza in Roxbury at the time of his retirement. A great cook, Hector liked fishing and tinkering about in his home and garage. He loved wildlife and the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his family. One fond memory of his daughters’ is “exploring” fresh water areas with him checking out frogs and snakes and the like.

He is survived by three daughters, Sara Marlene Fuentes and husband José of Franklin, Karen Rivera of Milford, and Kelly Rivera-Barrios and husband Dustin of Milford; two granddaughters, Christina and Natalia; his former wife and friend, Sara Rivera; three sisters, Alicia Rivera and husband Angel R. Torres of PR, Miguelina Rivera and husband Eliel Esquilín of PR, and Rosalia Vasquez de Rivera and husband Carlos Vasquez of Framingham; three brothers, Eduardo Rivera and his wife Carlene of Salisbury, Carmelo Rivera and wife Aida of Ashland, and Juan Rivera and wife Eva of Ashland; and a large loving extended family. He was also the brother of the late Aleida Rivera Rosario and Marcelino Rivera.

His services will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, December 14th at 2:00p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 12:30. Burial will be private.
