Obituary

Mary Elizabeth “Pinky” Brown Gibbs, 90, of Enigma died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Clinton Moore will officiate with a eulogy to be given by George Martin. Interment will follow in Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Her grandsons, Wesley Hall, Chance Hall, Justin Gibbs, David Gibbs, Austin Gibbs, Keith Gibbs and William Massey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Hall, Hal McMillan, Rob Lassiter, Tyler Snow, Chevy Martin, Grady McMillan, Wayne Franks, Buddy Dowdy, Ricky Barnes, Rayford Barnes, Wayne Aultman, Paul Gibbs, Bobby Gibbs, Bruce Daniels, James Riley Daniels, Ken Gaskins, Dwayne Dempsey, Charlie Stokesberry, Sam Lokey and David Conway. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Gibbs was born on January 13, 1923 in Irwin County and was the daughter of James Richard Brown and Mary Elizabeth Fender Brown, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Gibbs, Sr. and twelve siblings. She was retired from Bowen-McCranie Company and worked for Tampa Nuggett in Florida during World War II.

Mrs. Gibbs is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Danny Richard and Faye Gibbs of Fitzgerald, Tommy Dale and Barbara Gibbs of Enigma, Randy Keith and Debbie Gibbs of Enigma, James T. “Roogie” Gibbs, Jr., of Enigma and David Doss Gibbs of Fitzgerald; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Georgia Lynn and John Stuhl of Florida, Florida Faye Coleman of Fitzgerald, and Mandy Michelle and Jim “Junior” Hall of Albany; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
