Wesley Troy Walters, 46, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, at the Irwin County Hospital, Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Ocilla Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Couey and Rev. Gerald Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Paulk Cemetery on Evergreen Drive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday.
Mr. Walters was born June 2, 1958, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Betty Joyce Tankersley Walters and the late Lorie Vinson Walters. He was a cattle farmer and farmer. He was a 1976 graduate of Irwin County High School, where he played football and baseball for the Irwin County Indians. Mr. Walters attended the University of Georgia, where he played football for the Georgia Bulldogs. For many years, he coached with the Irwin County Little League. Mr. Walters was a member of the Ocilla Baptist Church, but he attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Fitzgerald. He was a member of the Georgia Cattleman’s Association and was a wildlife enthusiast.
Mr. Walters is survived by his wife: Dana Dunn Walters, Ocilla; five children: Mandy Walters Black, and her husband, Jim, Atlanta, GA; Wesley Lorie Walters, and his wife, Bridget, Ocilla; Jake Vickers Walters, Ocilla; Natalee Suzanne Walters, Ocilla; Abbee Dunn Walters, Ocilla; granddaughter: Preslee Lorie Walters, Ocilla; mother: Betty Joyce Tankersley Walters, Ocilla; one brother: Wyndall Lorie Walters, and his wife, Rhonda, Ocilla; sister: Lavonda Walters Womack, and her husband, Roger, Tifton, GA.
