Obituary

Arthur W. Hurlbert, 91, of Franklin died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare in Milford. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Piercy) Hurlbert.

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada on February 15, 1922, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and M. Dorothy (Ellis) Hurlbert

Mr. Hurlbert was a resident of Franklin for the past 50 years.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a radioman in the European Theater during WWII from 1942-1945.

Mr. Hurlbert graduated from Northeastern University, Class of 1949, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and worked at the Foxboro Company as a field engineer until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Hurlbert liked to travel and after retirement, enjoyed building model airplanes and was an active member of the Millis Model Aircraft Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Joyce Christos of Westport and Barbara Hurlbert of Franklin, four grandchildren, Nicholas Christos of Hermosa Beach, CA, Keith Christos of Brighton, Daniel Christos of Stoughton and Rachel Viveiros and her husband Jason of Central Falls, RI.

He is also survived by a brother Paul Hurlbert and his wife June of Greenland, NH, a sister Ruth Molleur and her husband Bruce of Alfred, ME and many loving nephews and nieces.

He was the brother of the late Elsie Spurr and Eleanor Greenleaf.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, December 14 in the Medway Village Church, 170 Village St. in Medway at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Medway Village Church Memorial Fund, 170 Village St., Medway, MA 02053.
