Obituary

Jeannette R. (Pinette) Harvey, 96 formerly of Salem and Swampscott, passed away Sunday, December 08, 2013 at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. She was the wife of the late Antonio Harvey.

Born in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Obeline (Laplante) Pinette. Jeannette came to Salem as a young woman and first worked as a practical nurse at the Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge. Also, prior to her marriage she worked for the former CBS Hytron and Sylvania. She was a devoted wife and mother and in early 1960 she began working part time in the Salem State College Cafeteria until her retirement in 1967.

A deeply religious woman, she was a long time member of the former St. Joseph Parish Prayer Community, St. John the Evangelist Parish of Swampscott and was also a member of the Sisters of the Assumption Associates. She also was a gifted caretaker, seamstress and creative craft maker.

Jeannette is survived by four sons, Richard Harvey and his wife Pauline of Florida, Kenneth Harvey and his wife Gina of Swampscott, Roland J. Harvey of Danvers, David Harvey and his wife Cheryl of Beverly, two daughters, Joan H. Lane and her husband Lawrence of Peabody, Estelle Y. Maroney and her husband James of Danvers, and a foster sister, Sr. Odile Laplante of Quebec. She also leaves 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Omer Pinette and sister, Agatha Barnard.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:15 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:30 A.M. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
