Obituary

CHICOPEE – Noella J. (Goyette) Harnois, 82, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 7, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at Wilbraham surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Percy Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on Christmas Day, December 25, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Edward W. and Grace (Cliche) Goyette. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1956. She previously was employed as a bookkeeper for many area businesses including the Foundations Consortium, Community Enterprises, Holyoke Auto Parts and Hapco Auto Parts, all in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Noella was a devoted wife and mother who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, George M. Harnois who was Called Home on February 5, 1996. They were married on November 23, 1950 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with 45 years of happiness together. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her loving sons, Eric H. Harnois who was Called Home on August 11, 2004 and David G. Harnois who was Called Home on October 13, 2013; and her dear brother, Conrad Goyette. She leaves her loving son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. Harnois and his wife, Robin, of Belchertown; her cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Harnois, and his fiancé, Kathleen Flynn, Evan Harnois and Nathan Harnois; her cherished great-granddaughter, Piper Harnois; her dear sister, Claire Goyette of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Lola Goyette of Arizona; her dear sisters-in-law of the Harnois family, Jeanne Berneche, Lucille Pray and her husband, Harry, and Elaine Scott, all of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Harnois and Goyette families. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service beginning at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels,(413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The Rite of Committal for Noella and her sons, Eric and David, will follow the Prayer Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in their memory to Hospice of the Fisher Home, 1165 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
