Daryl “Honey Bun” Reynolds, 61, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Memorial services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Crossview’s Multi-Purpose building.
Mr. Reynolds was born August 19, 1952 in Fitzgerald to the late Major Lee Reynolds and Patricia Ruth Brown Reynolds Evans. A 1972 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, he was a Purple Hurricane kicker for Coach Joe Compton. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a former firefighter for the City of Fitzgerald and worked for White Pest Control. Mr. Reynolds loved working with children and spent many hours coaching DLS sports. He was also an umpire and referee for DLS as well as GHSA sports including football and baseball. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Gold Leaf Umpires Association. He was also a member of Crossview Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Together with his wife, he sang in the group Reynolds Four with David & Teresa Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds loved to have fun and enjoyed telling jokes to his friends and neighbors. An avid sports fan, he loved to support the Braves, the Falcons, and the FSU Seminoles.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years: Cathy Reynolds of Fitzgerald; a son: Chris Reynolds of Fitzgerald; a daughter: Kimberly & Jeffery Mason of Cochran; four grandchildren: Madison Reynolds, Alex Reynolds, Isabella Reynolds, and Will Reynolds; two sisters: Janet & Gary Dunn of Fitzgerald and Cynthia & Johnnie Troupe of Abbeville; one brother: Rodney Reynolds of Fitzgerald; as well as his dad: Ben Evans of Fitzgerald. Several nephews and a niece also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece: Jennifer Dunn.
