Obituary

Sr. Stella Labrecque (Sr. Helena-de-Rome), 90, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, died December 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Residence in Manchester, NH.
She was born in Chicopee, MA on November 4, 1923 to Mederic and Lydia (Brouillard) Labrecque. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1942 and made her Perpetual Vows in 1950.
Sr. Stella earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Catholic Teachers College in Providence, RI and a master’s degree in English from Rivier University. She taught in parochial elementary and secondary schools in Rhode Island and New Hampshire for 26 years.
She retired in 1987 to St. Bernard in Keene, NH and later spent 12 years at the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, NH before transferring to St. Joseph Residence in 2009.
She was predeceased by her parents: her three sisters, Lena Roy, Eva Matte and Jeannette Gareau; and a brother, Theodore Labrecque.
The family includes nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Hudson, NH.
