Helen Virginia Pitts Withers, 73, of Tifton died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glen Fussell will officiate with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. John Powers III, David Bledsoe, Chris Powers, Olan Webb III, Jody Bannister and Jim Pitts will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Withers was born on December 11, 1939 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Henry Buford Pitts and Florence Cleo Luke Pitts, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by three husbands, Alton Barnes, Edward Faulkner and Robert Withers; and one brother, Roy G. Pitts, Sr. She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
Mrs. Withers is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam and Don Cox of Ocilla and Sheila Powers of Brookfield; two sisters, Edith Pitts Bannister of Irwin County and Dorothy Pitts Yancey of Tifton; eight grandchildren, John L. Powers III, Toby Alton O’Neal, David Allen Bledsoe, Deanna Joy Bledsoe, Christopher Keith Powers, Lois Shiver, Michelle Edwards and Dawn Milner; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
