Scituate – Barbara A. (Hammond) Larkin 81, formerly of Whitman, died Monday November 25 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Paul F. Larkin, Sr.
Born and raised in Boston she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine (Healy) Hammond and a graduate of Mission High School.
Barbara had been a resident of Whitman for over 45 years where she and her husband Paul had raised their five children.
She enjoyed time spent with her large family and following the many events of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving children, Karen Zaiatz and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, Steven Larkin and his wife Maureen of East Bridgewater, Eileen Forte of Lynn and Joseph Forte Plymouth, Paul Larkin, Jr. and his wife Jane of East Bridgewater, daughter-in-law Donna Larkin of Brockton, her brother Kenneth Hammond of Westwood and her brother–in-law, James Larkin of Norfolk. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and many long-time friends. She was the mother of the late James “Jay” Larkin and sister of the late William Hammond, Madeline Larkin and Claire Cunningham.
Her funeral mass will be held Saturday December 7 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visitation omitted by request.
