Rene J. “Mick” Ouellette, 94 of Westport died Monday, December 2, 2013 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Marion L. (Austin) Ouellette, they were married for 71 years.
Born in Westport and educated in Westport schools, he was son of the late Louis J. and Marie Louise (Masse) Ouellette. A lifelong resident of Westport, he had lived in Westport Point for many years. A veteran of WWII, he served his country with the 58th Sea Bees U.S. Naval Construction Battalion as a Carpenters Mate for 3 years, with more than 2 years of service in the Pacific. Mr. Ouellette was the First Commander of the W.A. &R. Ouellette Post #8502 of Westport, which was named after his 2 brothers and a first cousin: Wilfred, Arthur & Raymond Ouellette who lost their lives in WWII. Prior to retirement, he was a carpenter and contractor. He was a foreman for a Boston insulation firm, an inspector at Pearson Yachts in RI and worked at F.L. Tripp and Sons Boatyard for many years.
Including his wife, he is survived by 2 brothers: Robert E. Ouellette of Westport and Armand J. Ouellette of Rockland, MA; a sister: Eva Sullivan of Middletown, RI; and several nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late Ronald Ouellette and brother of the late Wilfred Ouellette, Arthur Ouellette, Albert Ouellette, Henry J. Ouellette, Delia Gagnon and Beatrice Hebert.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
