Carl W. Humiston, 72, of Milan, passed away Monday evening, December 2, 2013, at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Waterbury, CT on November 28, 1941 a son of Robert L. Humiston and Elsa (Holm) Humiston. Carl was raised in Connecticut and was a 1959 graduate of Naugatuck High School. He joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Omaha, NE, where he resided until 2003, when he moved to Milan. He was a member of the Milan Community United Methodist Church and was also active in his community. He served as the sexton of the Milan Cemeteries for many years.
Family members include his daughters Kellie Neth and husband Keith of Omaha, NE and Kristi Sullinger and husband Rich of Omaha, NE, his son William Kevin Humiston and wife Kelly of Blue Springs, MO, 5 grandchildren; Noah, Shannon, Mackenzie, Ben and Ian, his mother Elsa Humiston of Milan, siblings Else Smith of Tennessee, Robert Humiston of Utah, Betsy Humiston of Connecticut, and Karen Mizell of South Carolina, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert L. Humiston.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Saturday Dec. 7, 2013 at 2 PM at the Milan Community United Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors will be held July 19, 2014 at 11 AM at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Milan. Donations may be made in his memory to the Milan Community Methodist Church or to the Milan Library. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bryant Funeral Home, Berlin.
