VISITATION TIMES CORRECTED
TAUNTON – Joseph Alves, Jr., husband of Dolores (Moniz) Alves, died at his Taunton home on Nov. 30, 2013.
He was born 70 years ago on Thanksgiving Day.
A lifelong Taunton resident, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Baptiste) Alves, Sr.
After attending Taunton schools, he was employed as a lineman by the Mansfield Electric Light Department, where he worked for thirty years, retiring in January 2000.
A communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Joe loved sailing, and was a member of the Shawmut Yacht Club.
He also enjoyed playing the guitar, and communicating with his friends on the computer.
In addition to his wife of Taunton, he leaves three sons, Steven Alves and his wife Debby of Taunton, Michael Alves of Taunton, and Timothy Alves and his wife Mindy of New Bedford; his mother-in-law, Maria Moniz of Taunton; six grandchildren, Steven, Jr., Kevin, Jessica, Christina, Timothy, Jr. and Bryan; a niece, Debra; a nephew, Robert; and his faithful dog, Penny, who was always by his side.
Joe was also the brother of the late Robert Alves.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Dec. 6th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home on Friday, between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral mass.
