Robert Joseph Hicks
April 1, 1930 to Nov. 29, 2013

Robert Joseph Hicks, 83, of Chesterfield died November 29, 2013 at Community Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Indianapolis, IN April 1, 1930 to Merrill and Madeline Hicks.

He served in the US Navy and the National Guard for a total of 39 years.

He worked production at Delco Remy for nearly 38 years before retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the Chesterfield American Legion Post #408; past Commander of Pendleton American Legion Post #117 and served as honor guard with VFW Post 266 .

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Clara S. (White) Hicks of Chesterfield; two children, Vicki (Rick) Walsh of Yorktown and Joe (Melody) Cheek of Spiceland; special granddaughter, Tara Robb (significant other, Toby Bodkin) and several other grandchildren; special friends, Doug (Linda) Darby of Mooreland, IN; Warren Duc of Frankton; great granddaughter, Kyndal Bodkin; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Service will be 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in Saunders Cemetery with Military graveside rites. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service a celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 408.
