Holden, MA - A. Barbara (Ekstrom) Hultquist, 84, died Sat., Nov. 30, 2013, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. Alma Barbara Ekstrom was born in Clinton, MA, daughter of Jarl S. and Alma (Bengtson) Ekstrom. She grew up in Lancaster and was a graduate of Lancaster High School. Barbara was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and former Sunday School Teacher and Church Council member. She was a member of Vasa Order of America, Nordic Lodge #611 and was an ardent bowler.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Everett A. Hultquist; a daughter, Karin A. Hultquist of Holden; 2 sons, Mark A. Hultquist of MN and Alan M. Hultquist of VT; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, and Laura; a brother, Robert J. Ekstrom; and a sister, Marjori E. Josephson. She was predeceased by 3 sisters: Gunhild Mattson, Doris Malm, and Mildred Cray.
Funeral services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Friday, Dec. 6. A calling hour will be held at 10am followed by the service at 11am. Burial will be at a later date. Flowers may be sent or donations made to the Memorial Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden MA 01520.
