Russell N. Holm, 96, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born on March 24, 1917, a son of the late Alfred and Barbara (Theiss) Holm. A lifelong resident of Derry, he was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1936. Mr. Holm was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII on the USS North Carolina where he was a Plank Owner. He had been employed as a Postmaster for the Town of Derry. Mr. Holm was a former member of the Lions Club, and enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and was a collector of WWII memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bertha (Wiggins) Holm of Derry; two sons, Michael Holm and his wife Paula of Derry, and William Holm and his wife Catherine of Derry; five grandchildren, Heather Bell and her husband Brian, Sarah Roy and her husband Jeremy, Daniel Holm, Taylor Holm, and Angelique Holm; as well as ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Steven Holm and Richard Holm.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, December 3rd from 3 - 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial with Navy honors followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry.
