Obituary

SALEM- Donna Lee (Derflinger) Connelly, 60, of Salem, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 in the Salem Hospital following a short illness.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Donald L. and Helen P. (Senkowski) Derflinger.

She was employed for the past 10 years at the Gardner Mattress Corp. in Salem, and previously worked at Hood Sail in Marblehead.

Mrs. Connelly was a lover of animals. In addition to her traditional pets of dogs and cats, she cared for many injured animals from squirrels, to various species of birds. It was not uncommon to find new animals on the mend, when visiting her home. She was a member of the Mass Audubon Society.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark F. Jr. and Sandra L. Connelly of Danvers, Matthew D. and Kelly Connelly, Christopher E. and Amy Connelly, all of Salem, six grandchildren, Krista Springer, Katti Springer, both of Danvers, Gregory Connelly, Nicole Connelly, Helena Connelly, Max Connelly, all of Salem, one great grandchild, Alexa Wheeler of Danvers and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, William D. Derflinger.

Her funeral service will be held Monday, October 4, 2004, at 10 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, 2 to 6 pm. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
