Obituary

Elder D. "Dje Dje" Andrade, 64, of New Bedford died Friday November 29, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he had lived in New Bedford since 1979.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mr. Andrade was formerly employed as a cook at Antonio's Restaurant on Coggeshall Street for many years. He had also previously worked for the Cliftex Corporation.

He was a member of the Club Recordacoes de Portugal. He was an avid Benfica football fan.

Survivors include his mother, Palmira Andrade of New Bedford; three children, Jorge Andrade of New Bedford, Palmira Duarte and her husband Joao of Taunton, and Elizabeth Andrade of Phoenix, AZ; his siblings, Ida Smith and her husband William, Natalia Correia and her husband Aires, Maria "Bibica" Miranda and her husband Armindo, and Armando Andrade and his wife Eugenia, all of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Alexis, Alexandra, Halima, Preston, and Nathan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
