Mavis Laverne Wooten, age 80, of Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Wooten was born on May 3, 1933, in Douglas, GA to the late Willie Bill McMillan and Alma Carver McMillan.
Survivors include: her daughter, Gloria (Kenny) Hutto of Douglas, GA, son, John Walter McElroy, Jr. of Douglas, GA, brother, Curtis McMillan of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters, Emma Carter of Nicholls, GA, Barbara Ann Suggs of Jacksonville, FL, and Inez Davis of Douglas, GA, five grandchildren, Felicia Sherrod, Kenna Barwick, Valerie McElroy, Lydia McElroy, and Ashley McElroy, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Diane McElroy, two sisters, Myrtice Bernard and Thelma Carter, and five brothers, Tillman McMillan, Jesse McMillan, Bobby McMillan, Ottis McMillan, and Willie Buck McMillan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 6-9 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery.
