Virginia A. “Ginny” (Chicoine) Gavin, 79, of Worcester died Thursday, November 28th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George J. Gavin who died in 2009. She leaves a brother, Gerald J. Chicoine of Worcester; many nieces and nephews including, Nancy, Patricia, Ann Marie, Maureen and Paul with whom she shared many happy memories. Also, she leaves many God children. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard P. Chicoine and Gordon F. Chicoine and a sister, Helen C. Cooper.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Paul H. and Mildred E. (Stone) Chicoine. Ginny was a secretary for 28 years with the Worcester Housing Authority, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Retired State County Municipal Employee Association and Christ the King Church where she was also a Eucharistic Minister. Virginia enjoyed reaching out to help others, cooking and travelling.
Her funeral is Monday, December 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will following St. Roch’s Cemetery, Federal Hill Road, Oxford. Calling hours are Sunday, December 1st from 3:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
