Obituary

WORCESTER- R.G. Thrower, 70, of 504 Mill Street, died Wednesday, September 29th in U Mass Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus. His wife of 47 years, Joan V. (Sledziewski) Thrower predeceased him in May of this year. He leaves 2 daughters, Jean M. Thrower of Worcester and Mary C. Thrower-McCarthy wife of Richard McCarthy of W. Boylston. "Nobody loved his family more."

He was born in Worcester the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Cody) Thrower and graduated from North High School. He was an Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the Korean War where he was named the youngest First Sergeant and received a Purple Heart among other medals. Mr. Thrower was a self employed plumbing contractor for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and his lifelong heroes were the Lone Ranger and Ted Williams.

The funeral is Monday, October 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, October 3rd from 4:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
