Betty A. Willis, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Betty A. (Means) Willis, age 80, of Norton, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.
She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer C. “Tippy” Willis, Jr. to whom she was wed for fifty years at the time of his death on September 16, 2009.
Born in Brockton, MA on August 1, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elsie (Foster) Means. She grew up in Whitman and was a 1951 graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.
Betty had made her home in Norton for the past 56 years. She was a retired operator having worked for the New England Telephone Co. for 30 years, and was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Willis was a lover of flowers and family and having good times with her many friends. Along with her late husband and friends, having breakfast out every morning was her greatest way to start the day
She was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton and liked taking trips with the senior citizens. Betty especially loved trips to Plymouth and beautiful ocean sceneries.
She is survived by her devoted sons, E. “Tippy “Willis, III and his wife Paula of Norton and Kevin L. Willis and his wife Catherine of Easton. She was the dear sister of the late Edward Means, Alice Means and Helen Shay. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa, Stacy, Jennifer and Michelle, and is also survived by 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, November 30th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family in the Seeley Cemetery in Easton .
