Joan M. Quackenbush, 83, of Uncasville, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Pendleton Healthcare in Mystic.
She was born in Warwick, N.Y., on April 20, 1930, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Schmick) Leinweber.
She was married to Irwin R. Quackenbush in 1952. He predeceased her on Oct. 12, 1989.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas and his wife, Mary, of Herndon, Va., Timothy of Westerly, and Kevin Quackenbush of Groton; and a daughter, Mary Meyers and her husband, Wayne, of Uncasville; as well as four grandchildren, John, Michael, Chelsea, and David Quackenbush. She is also survived by two brothers, Clinton Leinweber of North Carolina and Charles Leinweber of Arizona.
Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by a brother, Adison Leinweber.
Joan's passion was art, specifically watercolors, and she was involved with the Mystic Arts Center. She worked at the Mystic Antique Market and was a volunteer for the American Heart Association .
Her family will greet relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, 10 Chapman Lane, Gales Ferry. Burial will follow in Gales Ferry Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Mystic Arts Center.
