Ira M. “Mac” McDaniel, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004 in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 2, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kelly Brown and Rev. James Hubbard officiating. Adam Bishop will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:00 until 9:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. McDaniel was born December 19, 1919 in Millville, Florida to the late Joseph J. and Lorie Anderson McDaniel. He served in the United States Army during World War II, as a member of the 1st Armored Division, 701st Tank Destroyer, North African Campaign, serving under General Patton. Mr. McDaniel moved to Fitzgerald in 1950 and was a former employee of Mann Motors, Castellow Mercury, Wallace Chevrolet, Hollingsworth Motors and Rainbow Irrigation System. He retired as owner/operator of Tri-State Liquidators. In 1983 he moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where he was an avid golfer and conducted fund raisers for community charities. He moved back to Fitzgerald in 1996 and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Baracca Sunday School Class.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years: Luwill Morris McDaniel, Fitzgerald; two sons: Byron McDaniel, Fitzgerald and Ferris McDaniel, Woodstock; four grandsons: Bill McDaniel, Harrison McDaniel, Luke McDaniel and Jake McDaniel; three brothers: Otis McDaniel, Tampa, FL, Leonard McDaniel, Macon, and Jimmy McDaniel, Phenix City, AL; niece: Ludell Bishop; great-niece: Nan Britt; great-nephews: Adam Bishop and Chad Bishop.
Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by four brothers: J. Hugh, Ralph, Earl and Perry McDaniel and one sister, Nickie Bien.
