Joan Mary DeCosta, 80, of Mystic, died on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Mary and Joseph Hutt and attended Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls.
On Oct. 19, 1957 Joan married Raymond Joseph DeCosta, who was stationed in the Army in New Jersey.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Raymond of Mystic; four children, Sue Crawford, Lori Lowe, Dawn DeCosta and RJ DeCosta; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Joan was predeceased by her infant son, Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton. Burial will follow at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery in Ledyard.
