Obituary

Gately --- Joan T. of Weymouth, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed peacefully from this life on November 20, 2013 at the age of 73. Ms. Gately grew up in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School in 1958. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Evelyn (Murphy) Gately and sister of Jackie Gately (who died in infancy). After graduating, Ms. Gately worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in the Department of Employment Training for 43 years. Following her retirement, she worked part time for the town of Weymouth’s Building Dept. She enjoyed summer vacations in Maine, spending time with family and friends. She was a dedicated care taker to her late mother Evelyn. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her two nieces and four great nieces and nephews.

Ms Gately is survived by her loving Brother Robert J. Gately and his wife Elizabeth of Abington and her two nieces Jennifer (Gately) Clark and her husband Matthew of Hanson and Christine (Gately) Robbins and her husband Scott of Rockland and her great nieces and nephews Madeline and Jack Clark and Christopher and Hailey Robbins.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, on Monday, Nov. 25 at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00pm.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
