Obituary

VENTURA
GILBERT T. RAMIREZ 8/22/1942 - 11/19/2013

On November 19, 2013, exactly at 10PM with his wife Patty by his side, and surrounded by his loving family, Gilbert passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Gilbert was the most wonderful, kind, and loving person anyone could ever know, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
He was born in Ventura on August 22, 1942 to Ramon Sr. and Carmen Ramirez. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Patricia, son Gilbert Jr., Brothers Ramon (Lupe), Pascual (Sylvia), and Bill of Billings MT, Sisters Mary Helen Solano (Chuck), Rosie Garcia (Bob), and Carmen O'Neill (Daniel), and numerous nieces and nephews.
With the marriage to his wife Patty, he was blessed with her five children Tom Mahoney (Leslie), Debbie Belote, Kelly Crandall (Rory), Erin Quiros (Gus), and Daniel Mahoney. He accepted them as his own, and during their 31 years together he became Grandpa to 10 Grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Gilbert was a truck driver until he retired in February of this year. He was owner and operator of Gilbert Ramirez Trucking and many people saw him driving the highway in his Kenworth #66.
Gilbert was an avid golfer where he made so many good friends. He would show up faithfully every Saturday at Saticoy Regional Golf Course with his famous homemake burritos. He was a member of MAGA and Amigos for many years. On most weekends you would find him in his recliner, his dog Blossom by his side, with the remote in his hand going from one sport to another. He was a devout Notre Dame fan and also rooted for UCLA.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents Ramon Sr. and Carem Ramirez, sister-in-law Audrey Ramirez, and mother-in-law Marjorie Parker, and brother-in-law James Ledgerwood.
A very special thank you to all the wonderful family members and dear friends who haven given so much love and support.
Rosary will be recited at 10AM on Saturday November 30, 2013 followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura CA 93004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for this terrible disease. Arrangements are under the direction of JOSEPH P.
