Obituary

WORCESTER-Edna T. (Hallisey) O’Keefe, 86, formerly of 191 Fairhaven Road, died Saturday, September 25th in the St. Francis Home after a long illness. Her husband, Thomas J. O’Keefe died in 2000. She leaves her brother, Donald P. Hallisey of Lady Lake, Florida, a grandson, Thomas O’Keefe of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. Her son Thomas J. O’Keefe, Jr. died in 1996 and her sister, Mary A. Sullivan predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of James and Julia (O’Shea) Hallisey, graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing and attended Clark University. Mrs. O’Keefe was an Army Nurse Corps veteran of WWII working as nurse at Ft. Devens. She worked as a registered nurse for Worcester State College. Previously she was a charge nurse at Worcester City Hospital for many years, and Holloran Hospital in New York. She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

The funeral is Saturday, October 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, October 1st from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
