Madeline O'Kon, Olyphant, died Monday in Fellowship Manor in Whitehall. She was the widow of Edward O'Kon.
Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Sembrot Hynak, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School and the Anthracite Business School. She was employed with the Lackawanna County aging office and as a bookkeeper for Raymour and Flanigan and Atlas truck rental. She was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Olyphant.
Surviving are a daughter, Debora and husband, David Solensky, South Whitehall; two sisters, Eleanor Kleszyk and husband, Joseph, Olyphant; and Marian Anderson, Manville, N.J.; sister-in-law, Ethel Hynak, Jessup; brother-in-law, Raymond and Magdalen O'Kon, Peckville; three grandsons, Mark and Gregory, South Whitehall; and Jason Solensky, Morgantown, W.Va.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Michael, John, William, Stephen and Joseph Hynak; a sister, Elizabeth Mandell; and two infant sisters, Anna and Eleanor.
The funeral will be Friday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant. Interment, parish cemetery, Peckville.
