John Arruda, age 78 of Fall River, passed away Nov. 18, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Costa) Arruda and the son of the late Manuel & Evangeline (Costa) Arruda. Prior to retiring, John worked for the Fall River Police Department as a Park Police Officer. He was a US Marine Veteran and an avid Red Sox fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mark Arruda and wife Jeanne of Walpole, Paula Mello & Michelle Arruda both of Fall River; sister: Dorothea Vollmar of OH; grandchildren: Melissa Viveiros, Mitchell Arruda & Kristy Costa; great grandchildren: Collin, Ashton & Brayden Viveiros; several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Doris Duarte, Lorraine Ducharme and Joseph Arruda.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME INC, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River SATURDAY at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Church at 10 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours FRIDAY from 5-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
