Obituary

Mary (Riccio) Todisco, age 95 died on Thursday evening, November 14, 2013 at the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Todisco for seventy years.

Born in East Boston, she was the eldest daughter of the late Dominic & Concordia (Grasso) Riccio. Mary was raised in East Boston, was a 1935 graduate of East Boston High School. On the fourth of July 1943, she married her longtime sweetheart. Joe and Mary lived in Boston and Cambridge prior to settling in Natick in 1952.

Mary worked as a stitcher for the Carver Dress Company in Boston and Bertard Manufacturing in Somerville. She was a member of the Unite Her Now, formerly the International Ladies’ Garment Workers Union. In the mid-1960’s she served as shop steward. Mary loved her home and loved furnishing and decorating it.

Though she retired in 1983, she never retired her beloved Wilcox and Gibbs industrial sewing machine. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children, grandchildren and items for her home.

Mary was an avid gardener and kept a large vegetable garden. She also grew African violets.

Mary was a devoted mother to son, Ronald Todisco & his wife Carole of Shrewsbury, and daughter, Cynthia Kennedy & her husband Roy of Sutton; and she was the doting grandmother of to her three grandchildren, Ronald Todisco, Jr., & Angelica & Corinne Kennedy. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Nicholas Riccio, Josephine Ferrera, and Michael Riccio.

Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 8:00AM. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:00AM – 9:45AM. Burial at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA at 1:00PM.
